School Discovery includes lesson plans for teachers of K-12 students (or anyone else who wants to teach kids about computers).  It is part of Discovery Channel offerings.  Be sure to look at the menu on the left part of the screen for lesson plans pertaining to a variety of curriculum areas...history, math, literature, etc.

Literacynet is a fantastic resource for struggling readers. The content consists of current and past news stories on topics such as the environment, policics, science, culture, and adventure. Students may choose to read the text, listen to the text, or view a short video clip of the story. Each module includes interactive activities to test vocabulary and comprehensive. Sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, this site has a great collection of links to science resources all of which are reviewed by scientists and teachers before being included. Take a look at the Weekly Science Update section which posts a new lesson based on current events every week. This is in addition to a large and varied collection of lesson plans for teaching all topics and levels of science. Science NetLinks is part of the Thinkfinity partnership.

Online Teacher Resource is one of the most comprehensive science sites, including tips, tools, worksheets, and links.

Solar System Exploration
NASA has done a great job of packaging a lot of resources and information into an easy to use interactive site. The Flash interface on the main page lets you get brief descriptions of each of the planets in the solar system (plus the asteroids, of course) along with information about NASA missions to each. The multimedia section contains hundreds of still pictures, videos and space art by kids. Check the Interactive Section for some excellent interactive Flash movies about the solar system and other aspects of space exploration. Some of this material has been on other parts of NASA’s site but now everything is brought together in one location.
